He is a distinguished microfinance expert with extensive experience in enterprise development and financial inclusion. His career began as a rural cooperative officer, eventually leading to the founding of LAPO, a pioneering institution in Nigeria’s microfinance sector.
Dr. Ehigiamusoe has played a pivotal role in shaping microfinance practices in Nigeria and Sierra Leone. He has served as a consultant on various local and international initiatives, including contributing to the formulation of Nigeria’s national microfinance policy and regulatory framework.
He holds a Doctorate in Policy and Development Studies, a Master’s degree in Development Studies, a Bachelor of Science in Sociology, and a Diploma in Cooperative Management. He has further deepened his expertise through global executive programs, including the Financial Institutions Programme for Enterprise Development Management (FIPED) at the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, and the Chief Executive Programme at the Lagos Business School.
A recipient of notable honors, Dr. Ehigiamusoe was awarded the Model Entrepreneur Award (Nigeria) in 2008 and recognized as the Outstanding Social Entrepreneur for Africa by the Schwab Foundation in 2010. He also serves on the African Advisory Council of the Grameen Foundation, USA.
He brings to the board a wealth of knowledge in policy development, social enterprise, and inclusive finance.
